Though the government has largely been able to contain most of the traditional militant groups, new groups or a hybrid of old and the new, inspired by the ideology of Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) or Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), are gaining a slow but steady foothold in the country by manipulating the social media to radicalise and recruit followers, threaten enemies and rally individuals to violence in the name of jihad.
