TY - SER AU - Straub, Frank AU - Zeunik, Jennifer AU - Gorban, Ben TI - Lessons Learned from the Police Response to the San Bernardino and Orlando Terrorist Atacks KW - Terrorismo KW - Atentado KW - Estados Unidos de América N2 - In the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and Orlando, the first responders were patrol and traffic officers, investigators, and command personnel, not tactical units. This is also likely to be the case in future attacks. In both cases, the local law enforcement response required judgment calls in extremely volatile and difcult circumstances. While well-defined, well-developed, and practiced protocols equipped responding officers to perform effectively during these tragic events, vital lessons have also been learned, including how to confront attackers armed or claiming to be armed with highpowered weapons and explosive devices. Some traditional practices need to be realigned and enhanced to improve the survivability of victims and the safety of first responders in an increasingly complicated threat environment UR - https://ctc.usma.edu/v2/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/CTC-Sentinel_Vol10Iss517.pdf ER -
